*A Guy from Eastview* is the story of a young Franco-Ontarian from an Ottawa neighborhood who grows up amidst schoolyards, back alleys, family tales, and a radio station that would one day open up the world to him. Over the years, he becomes—in turn—a radio broadcaster, visual artist, B&B host, assistant cook, traveler, and finally an author sharing stories that span the distance between Ontario and the Algarve.
In this simple narrative—by turns funny and moving—Marc Thivierge revisits the moments that shaped him, without grand pronouncements: childhood in Eastview, various moves and changing jobs, nights spent at the community radio station, discovering collage and a life dedicated to art, significant romances, and caring for a partner with cancer.
Without casting himself as a hero, he shows how the life of an "ordinary guy" can become significant the moment one takes the time to tell its story.
